The Story Behind the Zazen Water Filter Cover
An elegant solution to a problem that shouldn't exist.
It began with some Amazon packaging. My mum, like many zazen water filter owners, knew sunlight was ruining her water quality. Algae were forming. The taste was off. Her solution? Taping amazon packaging around the base of her Zazen filter to block the light.
That moment stuck with me: a premium filter wrapped in scrap packaging to fix a problem no one was solving.
After some research, I realized this wasn’t just her problem. No long-term, protective solution existed for algae growth in Zazen filters. All people could do was deep clean frequently or treat with chemicals, a frustrating, time-consuming process for families trying to live healthier.
I knew there had to be a better way. So, I built one.
Function Meets Form
The first prototype came together quickly, but fine-tuning the design took months. Zazen filters are deceptively complex in shape. Creating a cover that fit perfectly, looked good, and worked flawlessly meant testing and refining dozens of versions.
The result is a six-piece modular cover, designed for optimal fit, ease of use, and visual harmony with your home. Made from eco-conscious PLA plastic and 3D-printed on demand, each piece clicks together with clean precision and protects your filter from sunlight, heat, and degradation.
This product solves the algae problem at its root. By blocking UV light, it prevents growth before it starts, so, no chemicals required. It also helps preserve the structural integrity of your Zazen filter, reducing microplastic release and keeping your water as pure as it was meant to be.
The modular design reduces shipping bulk, cuts costs, and allows for beautiful, custom aesthetics. Our favorite combinations so far? Matte white, marble, blue, and black, all designed to complement the modern kitchen.
